Energy Conservation Grants: is money that's given for a specific purpose that you may not have to pay back. If you qualify and follow the terms and conditions of why the money's being given, it's basically money you don't have to pay back, it's free money.
Loans- Some Direct Loans from the Government are as low as ZERO PERCENT, while others may only be as high as 3%. These loans must be paid back, however. But with these low rates, they are still a very good deal. Loans with low interest rates are normally made to entrepreneurs, homeowners and developers. In addition, if you have been turned down by a bank, you may be able to borrow up to $150,000 with a special Small Business Administration (SBA) program that guarantees the loan.
Tax Credit, Subsidies- Many states will help pay part of the interest on a loan you obtain from a local lender. You may also be able to obtain tax incentives such as tax rebates, tax credits and some Government programs may help subsidize your expenses.

Business - The government provides all kinds of programs (which are different in every community), to potentially start or expand an existing business. If you can work with the government in helping create jobs, the government will give you money in terms of grants or other types of financial assistance. For example, the government has targeted programs for hiring the handicapped or going into economic areas that are deprived or depressed so that you can bring businesses there. You can even obtain grants from EDI (Economic Development Initiative) if you qualify, for buying equipment to help grow your business.
There are 3 major sources of government funding, Federal, State and Local, which include counties, cities, towns and villages.
A little known fact is that 23% of the budget for the Federal and State government has to be made available to small business to compete with. The SBA (Small Business Administration) targets their funding to businesses with $5 million or less in revenues and 500 or less employees.
In addition, these sources have a lot of programs which target funding for minorities, disabled people, veterans and even WOMEN.
