Grants, Tax Credits

My Opinion

Below is a lot of info on Tax Credit programs, it is my opinion based on marketing concepts. When there’s a demand for something & little supply, prices go up, when supply out paces demand (Competition) prices drop. The exception for this rule is when Government mandates something (Ethanol oxygenated fuels) or subsidizes something or things i.e. grants, tax credits, govn’t. programs, etc. This alone drives prices up alone, not lower!

If it’s not cost effective on it’s own merit alone, then it isn’t effective with govn’t programs. I do agree that in some cases that govn’t grants for research & development is a plus, i.e. military research, Apollo program & other similar programs.

It has been the individual entrepreneur that has done the most. For this reason the small business(70% of economy) should be unshackled from high taxes, unions, socialized medicine, govn’t control, manipulation & oppressions. These factors drive up prices, stifles growth, diminishes employment opportunities. A small business will pay a good wage to a good reliable (work ethics) worker, poor workers (late, unreliable, unproductive, lazy, wasteful with time & resources, theft) should be poor. I encourage everyone to go into business or management, then you’ll understand what I’m saying.

All these factors could produce more good paying jobs or kill a business, this is why we face high unemployment today!

Free Energy Efficiency Programs

Your local utility company often offers a variety of energy efficiency and conservation programs to its customers. You can contact your local electric, gas or oil company & ask These programs help manage customer demand in an efficient, cost effective manner.

The programs also help customers save money on their energy bills by making their homes and businesses more energy efficient. North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio http://www.duke-energy.com/environment/energy-efficiency/initiatives.asp

In Oregon my neighbor, low income renter was trying to find out about Free Efficiency Programs on the internet. Well, he couldn’t find any, however he did call his local electric company & they gave him this 1-866-368-7878 Energy Trust, he received free energy inspection & sealing improvements.

Another neighbor, home owner called his local gas company & qualified for a similar free program also. Caulking around doors, windows, gap foam, limited insulating, air sealing his home & replaced 20 ft. section of his heater duct for free!

Energy Conservation Grants: is money that's given for a specific purpose that you may not have to pay back. If you qualify and follow the terms and conditions of why the money's being given, it's basically money you don't have to pay back, it's free money.

Loans- Some Direct Loans from the Government are as low as ZERO PERCENT, while others may only be as high as 3%. These loans must be paid back, however. But with these low rates, they are still a very good deal. Loans with low interest rates are normally made to entrepreneurs, homeowners and developers. In addition, if you have been turned down by a bank, you may be able to borrow up to $150,000 with a special Small Business Administration (SBA) program that guarantees the loan.

Tax Credit, Subsidies- Many states will help pay part of the interest on a loan you obtain from a local lender. You may also be able to obtain tax incentives such as tax rebates, tax credits and some Government programs may help subsidize your expenses.

Business - The government provides all kinds of programs (which are different in every community), to potentially start or expand an existing business. If you can work with the government in helping create jobs, the government will give you money in terms of grants or other types of financial assistance. For example, the government has targeted programs for hiring the handicapped or going into economic areas that are deprived or depressed so that you can bring businesses there. You can even obtain grants from EDI (Economic Development Initiative) if you qualify, for buying equipment to help grow your business.

There are 3 major sources of government funding, Federal, State and Local, which include counties, cities, towns and villages.

A little known fact is that 23% of the budget for the Federal and State government has to be made available to small business to compete with. The SBA (Small Business Administration) targets their funding to businesses with $5 million or less in revenues and 500 or less employees.

In addition, these sources have a lot of programs which target funding for minorities, disabled people, veterans and even WOMEN.
