My Opinion

It is my opinion based on marketing concepts. When there’s a demand for something & little supply, prices go up, when supply out paces demand (Competition) prices drop. The exception for this rule is when Government mandates something (Ethanol oxygenated fuels) or subsidizes something or things i.e. grants, tax credits, govn’t. programs, etc. This alone drives prices up alone, not lower!

If it’s not cost effective on it’s own merit alone, then it isn’t effective with govn’t programs. I do agree that in some cases that govn’t grants for research & development is a plus, i.e. military research, Apollo program & other similar programs.

It has been the individual entrepreneur that has done the most. For this reason the small business(70% of economy) should be unshackled from high taxes, unions, socialized medicine, govn’t control, manipulation & oppressions. These factors drive up prices, stifles growth, diminishes employment opportunities. A small business will pay a good wage to a good reliable (work ethics) worker, poor workers (late, unreliable, unproductive, lazy, wasteful with time & resources, theft) should be poor. I encourage everyone to go into business or management, then you’ll understand what I’m saying.

All these factors could produce more good paying jobs or kill a business, this is why we face high unemployment today!
